A land based casino in Auckland, New Zealand, is refusing to pay out a jackpot of $44,000.

Apparently around 6 years ago a 22 year old man asked the SkyCity Casino to exclude him and his girlfriend, presumably because of problems with gambling.

The jackpot winner is saying that he had assumed the ban had now expired, and he had not been prevented from gambling prior to his big win.

The casino argues that even though the ban was self imposed it does not expire until he attends mandatory gambling counseling sessions.

He has not even been refunded the money he gambled in order to win the jackpot, and he now intends to take the matter to lawyers in the hope of collecting his winnings.

If he had decided to gamble online however, any winnings would have been his to keep.

Maybe using internet gambling casinos would have only exacerbated his alleged gambling problems. It is so very easy to use the online casinos for gambling and easy for someone with a problem not to gamble responsibly.
