Partypoker, one of the main players in online casinos, particularly in Europe, is currently looking for someone to be head of marketing in Australia.

The position, which is rumoured to be based in Sydney, will have the specific aim of bringing their brand to the attention of the Australian and New Zealand market.

This is rather strange because the Interactive Gaming Act of 2001 does not allow an online gaming company to actually emply anyone who is physically present in Australia.

Large fines of up to $1.1 million per day for a company could be enforced, although non has so far been enforced on illegal online gaming companies.

It is perfectly legal, however, for players in New Zealand and Australia to use online casinos as long as they are based outside of these countries.

It is hoped by the industry that sometime in the near future the governments of New Zealand and Australia will lift the ban on online casinos operating within their borders.
