The Lotteries Commission has unveiled plans to increase sales, and these plans include the introduction of online Lotto scratchies.

Also in the plans would be the availability of Lotto tickets in supermarkets and more ideas for online gaming, including making Instant Kiwi available on the internet.  However, NZ Lotteries’ chief has said that nothing is certain at this stage.  He agrees that any products that are introduced on their online channel will have to meet very high standards of social responsibility.  They would also have to be approved by the government.

For most people the Lottery is a harmless pastime, but the Problem Gambling Foundation finds the possibility of more gambling opportunities being available online quite worrying.

Graham Aitken, the Foundation’s spokesperson has said that he fears that any New Zealander looking to play instant Kiwi online is probably more likely to be met with instant disappointment rather than instant gratification.

However, there are already many many opportunities for online gambling available in New Zealand, and lots of people enjoy the overseas online casinos which can be accessed through any computer in the country.
